Pericardium


A conical fibro-serous sac surrounding the HEART and the roots of the great vessels (AORTA; VENAE CAVAE; PULMONARY ARTERY). The pericardium consists of two layers or sacs, the outer fibrous pericardium and the inner serous pericardium (or epicardium).
